Meet April's Featured Knights!
Senior of the Month: Andrea
Frederick
Andrea is currently a Co-President of Ars Nova. In previous
years, she sang in Knight Sounds and Singing Knights. After
moving to Lincoln from Grand Island, she attended Pound Middle
School. Non-school music experiences include Community Choirs,
"Sing Around Nebraska", and Praise Team at her Church. She also
plays piano and trombone, and is active in the LSE band program.
She has earned a letter and bar in vocal music, and has been in several
musicals, including Godspell,
Seussical, Into the Woods, and Dames at Sea.
Andrea's mom, Julie, is a school nurse, and her dad,
Craig is the state director of Agriculture Education. She has a
twin brother named Adam, and a Freshman brother named Blake.
Andrea is also very active in swimming. She is a Varsity Swim
Team captain, and is a lifegaurd and swim coach at Eden Pool. She
is also active in volunteering, Youth/Inspire, and Leadership Lincoln.
What do
you
like about singing in choir?
I love
choir because it gives me the opportunity to express myself in many
different ways.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
Shopping,
helping others, family, swimming, and music.
What is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
I would
like to make people more aware of the world around them, and help
others!
Anything
else you'd like people to know about you?
Find your passion and follow it!
Junior of the Month: Sam
Eschliman
Sam is currently involved in both Court Choir and Countesses &
Noblemen. This was his first year at Southeast, having moved here
from Elkridge, Maryland last summer. He was very active in music
at both Elkridge Elementary and Elkridge Landing Middle School, and
then at Howard County High School. Besides singing, Sam plays
bass guitar, French horn, and a little piano. He has participated
in many musicals, including Over Here,
Brigadoon, and Dames at Sea.
Sam's dad is Paul, a recently retired Air Force
Singer and current LPS substitute teacher. His mom, Deb, is an
elementary music teacher. He has two brothers: Dan is a
music education major at UMBC, and Matt is in 8th grade at Pound middle
school, where he plays the tuba. Sam says "Music is my interest,
hobby, and hopefully someday it will be my job."
What do you
like about singing in choir?
There
is a feeling I get when the sound gels and the choir gets completely in
sync that is unlike anything else.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
Singing, hanging out with some friends, Flea,
listening to music, and The Killers.
What is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
People/Society
cares too much about what everyone else thinks. That shouldn't
matter so much.

else you'd like people to know about you?
Come say hey sometime.
Sophomore of the Month:
Alyssa McManaman
Alyssa is in Queen's Court
this year, and was a Singing Knight last year. She also sang
while attending Irving and Lefler Middle Schools, and Prescott
Elementary.
Alyssa's mom, Nicole Hubble, is an accountant at
Hamilton College. Her step-dad, Richard Maher, does construction
work. She has two brothers (Trevor, a junior, and Josh, a
freshman) and one sister (Bailey, a second grader). Alyssa loves
to sing, but also loves to draw and to hang out with her friends.
What do you
like about singing in choir?
All
of the different variety of songs the choir gets to sing.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
My
best friend Erin, Jenny, and Chantel. My favorite food is tacos,
and my favorite pop is Mountain Dew.
What
is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
Conserving
my money for bigger things instead of spending it on junk.
Anything
else you'd like people to know about you?
I'm a really easy and outgoing person
and I laugh a lot!
Freshman of the Month: Lisabeth Wissink
Lisabeth is in
Singing Knights. Before coming to LSE, she was home schooled, and
then attended Pound Middle School. Other choir experience
includes Deo Gratias, a
homeshool choir conducted by John Friesen. Lisabeth also plays
the piano and violin. She is a section leader in the Southeast
orchestra, and has been in LYS, JYO, YES, and pit orchestra in The Music Man at Sheridan Lutheran
Church. She recently participated in "Night of Knights", and has
been in Church musical dramas.
Lisabeth's dad is the Interim Director of Music at
Sheridan Lutheran Church, and her mom teaches piano and conducts a
preparatoy homeschool choir. She has one sister, Kirsten, and two
rabbits, Buttons and Skittles. Some things Lisabeth enjoys doing
include reading, playing violin with her sister, playing with her
rabbits, and going on family vacations.
What do you like about singing in
choir?
I love how, over time, everyone learns to
blend. When we notice our progress and the improved quality of
our tone, we find that it's a lot more fun to sing.
Name some of your favorite things,
people, and/or places:
I love to visit Silver Dollar City in
Branson, Missouri. It's one of my favorite places to go for
family vacations. I have always wanted to visit Europe and travel
around the world.
What is something you'd like to
improve in your world?
I
would like to re-instill the pride in our nation and what it stands for.
