Meet December's Featured Knights!
Senior of the Month: Tyler
Smith
Tyler is in his second year in both Ars Nova and Court Choir. He
is also a former member of Knight Sounds. He previously attended
Scott Middle School and Cavett Elementary. He has been in choir
at his Church since age 12, and has also played piano for 10 years,
trumpet for 6 years, and currently plays guitar. While at
Southeast, he has lettered in band, choir, and theatre.
Tyler's Dad is Paul Smith, a teacher at LSE, and his
mom, Diane, is a school nurse for LPS. He has an older sister
named Jennifer. Tyler works for Deprez Custom Homes and also at
Supertarget. He is a sports fan, and his favorite teams are the
Boston Red Sox, Denver Broncos, and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
What do
you
like about singing in choir?
I enjoy
choir for the wonderful atmosphere I get when I sing great music with
great people.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
Sports,
games on the X-box, chilling with my friends, and Las Margaritas.
What is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
Stop
genocide throughout the world. The world has been way too
affected by this terrible act of violence.
Anything
else you'd like people to know about you?
I have met these famous people: Bill
Clinton and Terrell Davis.
Junior of the Month: Mike Yang
Mike is in Bel Canto and Court Choir this year, and was in Court
Choir last year. He has played piano for nearly 11 years, and was
in orchestra since 6th grade until this year. Before coming to
Southeast, he attended Pound Middle School and Humann Elementary.
Mike's favorite family member is his dog, who knows
all his secrets. He enjoys writing music and then playing it.
What do you
like about singing in choir?
Blending
my voice with everyone's.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
My room, my piano, my keyboard, Bel Canto, singing,
and that feeling of waking up all refreshed.
What is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
Anything
else in my life would be frosting on an already sweet cake :)

else you'd like people to know about you?
I name all of my personal things.
I have a camera named Dillon, a piano named Gen Whitney, and another
piano named Talon Yamaha! My violin is named Stan, and my cell
phone is Raven. YEAH!!!
Sophomore of the Month:
Kelsey Scofield
Kelsey is in Knight Sounds
this year, and was in Singing Knights last year. Before coming to
Southeast, she sang at Irving Middle School and at Irving choir
camp. She attended elementary school at Sheridan. In
addition to singing, she also plays French Horn and Piano.
Kelsey's parents, Tobi and John, are both
teachers. She also has a sister named Sarah. Kelsey enjoys
music, art classes, and dance classes.
What do you
like about singing in choir?
I
love to harmonize, be with my friends, and dance.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
Strawberries,
Mom, Dad, my sister, and artichokes.
What
is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
I
would just love if there wasn't any poverty.
Anything
else you'd like people to know about you?
I love to SING and DANCE!!
Freshman of the Month: Sophia Wennstedt
Sophia is a
co-president of Singing Knights. Before LSE, she attended Beattie
Elementary and then Irving Middle School, where she participated in
choir all three years. She has also sung in her Church choir and
in the 8th grade All-City Choir. She has played piano for 9 years
and guitar for 3 years. Musical experience includes playing
guitar and singing at coffee houses with Adrienne Anderson as well as
playing guitar and piano and singing at Church.
Sophia's mom, Lori, is a psychologist, and her dad,
Scott, is a pharmaceutical rep. Her family also includes an
8-year old sister named Olivia and a Black Lab named Shadow.
Sophia is on Student Council at Southeast, and also participates on the
swim team. She enjoys writing music.
What do you like about singing in
choir?
It's a great way to meet people, sing, and
have fun all at once.
Name some of your favorite things,
people, and/or places:
Rain, Music, Huskers, and Indian
Food.
What is something you'd like to
improve in your world?
For
everyone to realize that on the inside we are all unique, and yet we
are all the same. We are all people.
Anything else you'd like people to
know about you?
Music is a huge part of my live. I
honestly don't know what I'd do without it.
