Meet May's Featured Knights!



Senior of the Month:  Kirsten  Wissink

    Kirsten is in Bel Canto and in Court Choir, and was previously in Excalibur and Singing Knights.  Before coming to Southeast, she was home schooled and then attended Pound Middle School.  During those  years, she participated in All-City Girls Choir, Church choirs, and Novi Cantores.  She has been in musicals at Church, and has received a choral letter and pin at LSE.  Besides singing, she also plays piano and violin.
    Kirsten's Dad, Kevin, is a musician and carpenter, and her mom, Lorene Wissink, is a piano teacher.  Her sister, Lisabeth, is a Freshman at Southeast.  The family also includes a pet rabbit.  Kirsten works at Lincoln Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and, in her spare time, likes to read and hang out with family and friends.

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
I like the different group experiences, and the fun we can have even as we work to focus and do our best.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places:
   
Music, hanging out with friends, being home with my family, learning/discovering things, and the beach.

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
I would like to help people better respect themselves and others.



Junior of the Month:  Adam Schwimmer

    Adam is in both Ars Nova and Court Choir, and has also been in Knight Sounds and Singing Knights.  He attended Irving Middle School and Arnold Elementary before joining us at Southeast.  Non-LSE choral experience includes Lincoln Boys' Choir, Church choir, Doane Honor Choir, Wesleyan Honor Choir, and All-State Choir.  He has also been in the LSE musicals Into the Woods and Dames at Sea.  Besides singing, Adam also plays piano and cello, and has participated in orchestra at LSE.
    Adam's mom is Beth Baker, an LPS substitute teacher, and his father is Terry Schwimmer.  Adam's non-musical interests include sports, chess, math, and video games.

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
Singing "Sleep" out of tune in Steffan's ear, no homework, and getting to listen to beautiful music.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places: 
    My bell choir director, Rachel Schmit, and my best friend Jordan Hunt.

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
Participation in religious activities.

Sophomore of the Month:  Maggie Wallace

    Maggie is in Knight Sounds, and was a Singing Knight last year.  She attended Sheridan Elementary and Pound Middle School.  She lettered in choir last year, and has done Tech for musicals both years.  She also participates in LTC Church Choir, and used to play the violin.
    Maggie's parents are Julie and Andrew Wallace.  She has one sibling, Gavin, and several pets, including a dog (Cody), a bird (Elvis), a hermit crab (Crab Cakes) and some fish.  Besides singing, Maggie is also interested in photography and theatre.

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
Singing is a passion of mine.  It's great to share that with others.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places:
   
Nebraska Youth Camp, Diet Coke with Lime, cotton candy ice cream, best friends, and movie nights.

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
Peace.  Why can't we all just be friends, people?

Anything else you'd like people to know about you?
    
This year has been great.  Thanks for the memories and friendships!  I love you all!
       Oh...I hate cheese?!  I don't know anything exciting?!

Freshman of the Month:  Dayton Stange

    Dayton is in Singing Knights.  He attended Pound Middle School, and has been a member of the All City Boys' Choir.  He plays guitar in addition to singing.
    Dayton's parents are; Holly, a teacher at Sheridan Elementary, and Drew, president at NAI FMA Realty.  His sister, Jocy, is an LSE senior.  The family also includes a dog named Sassi.  Dayton's non-musical interests include basketball, track & field, and tennis.  

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
I enjoy the varieties of voices and tones I get to hear and sing.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places:
   
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Canada, Will Ferrell, Jim Stange, and Africa.

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
Violence.

I love to have fun and make progress in life.
