Meet November's Featured Knights!



Senior of the Month:  Cassie Bachman

    Cassie is a second-year member of both Ars Nova and Court Choir.  Before that, she sang with Excalibur and Singing Knights.  She went to Randolph Elementary and then to Lefler Middle School, during which time she participated in All-City Girls' Choir all three years.  Besides singing, Cassie plays piano, violin, and a little guitar.  She earned her first choral letter last year, and has helped with Southeast's musicals.
    Cassie's mom is a Doctoral Specialist at UN-L.  Her Dad is a Boiler Tech and Custodian.  She has two siblings, Eva and Shawn.  She has two jobs, at Southpointe Cinema 6 and at Data Input.  In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, biking, and playing the piano and guitar.

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
I love to sing and perform.  It makes me happy to sing and express myself through music.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places:
   
Canada, Niagara Falls, my grandmother, my sister, and Mint Oreo Ice Cream.

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
Less use of non-renewable resources--help our environment get cleaned up.

Anything else you'd like people to know about you?
   
Just enjoy your years here no matter what goes on.  You may never know when your friends will leave.


Junior of the Month:  Natalie Manner

    Natalie is in Countesses & Noblemen, and was previously in Knight Sounds(!).  Besides singing in choirs at Southeast, Natalie plays cello, and has participated in orchestra, band and LSE musicals.  She has also performed in musicals at the Lincoln Community Playhouse and Pinewood Bowl.  She attended Sheridan Elementary and Irving Middle School.
    Natalie's family includes her mom, Mollie, who plays piano, her sister, Becca, who is also a singer, and her super-fluffy kitty, Cleo.  Natalie has many interests, including cello, acting, dance, photography, drawing, painting, and art in general.

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
Everything!  I love how choir becomes one big family.  I've met some of my best friends in choir.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places:
  1. I love Paris.  I went there and didn't want to leave.
  2. Colorado is my second favorite place because I love the mountains.
  3. If I had to pick a favorite person, it would be Ringo Starr from the Beatles.  I have a stuffed animal raccoon named after him.
  4. My Knight Sounds dress is one of my favorite things.
  5. My kitty is also one of my favorite things.  I'm sitting with her right now!

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
I'm pretty outdoorsy, so I want to improve the environment, and help people get off of their computers and go outside for awhile, darnit!

Anything else you'd like people to know about you?
    
I guess not.  I can't think of anything else.


Sophomore of the Month:  Chantel Mooren

    Chantel is in Queen's Court this year, and was in Singing Knights last year.  She went to Eastridge Elementary and to Irving Middle School, where she participated in choir.  She also sings a solo for Christmas at her Church every year.
    Chantel's parents are Debra and Corvan Kelly, and are both business workers.  She has a brother named Nick, who is an LSE alum.  Besides singing, Chantel also enjoys competition cheerleading.

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
I love stretching my voice and improving my vocal skills.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places:
   
Cheerleading, listening to music, singing, dancing, and decorating my house.

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
I would like to improve the attitude of people around me and make them happy.

Anything else you'd like people to know about you?
    
I'm a cheerful person and I love to be me!



Freshman of the Month:  Mark Lighthall

    Mark is in Singing Knights.  Before coming to Southeast, he went to Helen Hyatt Elementary.  In addition to singing, Mark plays the trumpet.
     Mark's parents are Andrew and Linda Lighthall, of Corrections.  His family also includes a younger brother.  His interests include writing books, bike riding, most sports, chess, and outdoor activities.  He also enjoys reading, and hopes to read 1000 books in one year.

What do you like about singing in choir?
   
Singing.

Name some of your favorite things, people, and/or places:
   
Turquoise, Music (Pet Shop Boys and Van Halen), friends, and Ramen Noodles.

What is something you'd like to improve in your world?
   
The government and how school is run.

Anything else you'd like people to know about you?
   
I'm an all around guy.
