Meet October's Featured Knights!
Senior of the Month: Cassi
Collicott
Cassi is a co-president of Queen's
Court. Before coming to Southeast, she was a member of Lincoln
Northstar's Chorus, Freshman/Sophomore Select, and Academy Choir.
She attended middle school at Cozad Middle School and at Axtell Park
Middle School, where she sang in the Axtell Park Chorus and Axtell's
Expressions. Musical Theater experience includes participating in
Footloose at Northstar.
Cassi's father, Doug, is a a Video Phone Installer
for Sorenson VRS, and her mother, Lynda, works as an accountant for
Hobby Town USA. She has three sisters: Sam (14), Katrina (8), and
Erikka (3). Her family also includes two dogs (a lab named Ginger
and a black pug named Precious), four cats (Jayden, Jasmine, Caramel,
and Chip), a hamster (Tipsy), and a rabbit (Oreo).
Cassi works at Super Target. Besides singing,
she loves fishing and archery.
What do
you
like about singing in choir?
I love
to sing (duh), and when I sing I love to know that I'm learning and
growing as a singer.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
I love
to read. I like to hang out with friends and with my
fiancee. Also, I love to go to the zoo (look at the elephants)
and I love to write.
What is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
I think
that the world doesn't have enough true music, that doesn't include
"this is why I'm hot".

else you'd like people to know about you?
My motto: "If you can

Junior of the Month: Steffan
Decker
Steffan is in Bel Canto and Court Choir. Before this year,
he was in Singing Knights and then Excalibur. He lettered in
music last year, and has also been active on tech crews for two LSE
musicals. He went to elementary school at Prescott and middle
school at Irving, where he sang in choir for 1 1/2 years.
Steffan's mother, Kris, works for Molex, Inc.
His father, Brian, works for Midlands Packaging. He also has two
brothers, Devyn and Gavin, who are both Freshman at LSE (and both in
Singing Knights!). His sister, Kiersten, is in fourth
grade. Besides singing, Steffan is very interested in Tech
Theatre.
What do you
like about singing in choir?
Well,
the singing, of course! It also helps me improve.
Name some of
your favorite things, people, and/or places:
Dr.
Pepper, my whole family, Autumn, cartoons, and walking barefoot.
What is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
All the
sad or angry people. They need to be cheerful.
Anything
else you'd like people to know about you?
I drive an un-air-conditioned
mini-van? I dunno, I'm not that interesting...Go B.C!
Sophomore of the Month:
Helen Strotman
Helen is in Knight Sounds this
year, and was in Singing Knights last year. Before coming to LSE,
she attended Sheridan Elementary and Irving Middle School. At
Irving, Helen participated in several choirs, including Images,
Inspiration, Impact, Chorus, and Girls' Choir. She earned a choir
letter as a freshman, and is also active in band, playing the clarinet.
Helen's parents are Margaret, an ELL teacher, and
Andrew, a lawyer. She has a twin sister named Elizabeth and a
younger sister named Rebekah. Her other activities include drama,
band, and speech, as well as YMCA Camp Kitaki (Senior Kitaki Kids, or
SK's).
What do you
like about singing in choir?
I
love getting to be around talented and dedicated people, and we have a
lot of fun.

your favorite things, people, and/or places:
Home,
Camp Kitaki, Washington D.C., raspberries, and Diet Coke.
What is
something you'd like to improve in your world?
I'd
like to reduce the amount of conflict in the world. There is too
much fighting.
Freshman of the Month: Erich Gebers
Erich is in
Singing Knights. Before this year, he went to Everett Elementary
and Irving Middle School. At Irving, Erich sang in Images, Inspiration,
Impact, and Man Choirs. He is also active in Trinity Methodist's
Agape and Chancel Choirs. Erich plays cello in LSE's orchestra,
and also plays bells. Other singing experience includes playing
Jonah in Jonah and the Whale,
the Nebraska Wesleyan Children's Choir Camp, Vocal Music Camp at Camp
Fontanelle, and singing solos at Church. Instrumental experiences
include participating in the UNL String Project, JYO, Lincoln Civic
Orchestra, and Honor's SAIL Camp.
Erich's father, Brian, is a dispatcher/driver.
His mother, Tena, is a Health Unit Secretary. Erich is an only
child, but has a dog named Charlie and a cat named Kahlua, AKA "Spoiled
Rotten". He is active in Boy Scouts and with Food Net. He
also enjoys computers and photography.
What do you like about singing in
choir?
I like working with people.
Name some of your favorite things,
people, and/or places:
My grandmother, talk show host Dave Ramsey,
my iPod, computers, and my friend, Ben.
What is something you'd like to
improve in your world?
I'd
like to stop hunger--that's why I volunteer.
Anything else you'd like people to
know about you?
I've been known to conduct in my sleep!
